Telangana ministers hit out at central govt for being ‘double-faced’

As per the latest reports, Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao hit out at the central government on Thursday for ‘political mudslinging’ in Telangana while applauding the state’s performance on various fronts to the point of presenting national awards.

Telangana has won 14 national awards in the last week from the central government’s ‘Swachh Sarvekshan’ awards and Jal Jeevan Aayog. During a press conference, Minister Harish Rao stated that, in addition to the recognition, the center should release funds owed to the state.

In response to the national award for providing safe drinking water to all rural households, municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticized the union Government for recognizing Telangana’s achievement but not providing financial support for the cause.

“Thank you for the recognition, but it would be fitting if the NDA government could honor the recommendation of NITI Ayog to grant Rs 19,000 crore to this pioneering project,” he tweeted.

Minister Harish Rao Stated that it was high time for the central government to “open its eyes.” He stated that while awarding the Telangana government, they are criticizing the same government on political platforms.

“If the union ministers have any guts, they should first release the funds owed to the state.  They have the right to criticize us if we do not use the funds properly. The center is ignoring the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission and neglecting release of funds to the State,” he added.

Harish Rao argued that the Union government was imitating Telangana’s schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Mission Bhagiratha, 1962 mobile veterinary clinics, and others. He stated that in a recent letter to the State government, the Centre had even termed Mission Bhagiratha as an inspiration for its Jal Jeevan Mission. “We are pleased that our schemes can help the people of the country, but the state should be given its due,” he said.
