Hyderabad: Police issue traffic warning

Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi will appear at the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi to deal with the case of the National Herald on Monday and reports suggest that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is organizing a rally in support of him.

The city police have issued a warning for severe traffic congestion in a few areas, in preparation for a large turnout.

At the rally, the crowd will gather in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office near Ayakar Bhavan, Masab tank. The following areas will see heavy traffic between 11 am and 3 pm:

Khairatabad Junction, Khairatabad Flyover, Chintalbasti, Basheerbagh, Lakdikapool,  Telugu Thalli flyover Junction, Ambedkar Statue, PCR junction, NTR Marg, Liberty Junction, Secretariat/BRK Bhavan, Narayanaguda.

Police have asked commuters to avoid these areas between 11 am and 3 pm.

Among those attending the rally will be TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, MLA and TPCC working president Jaggareddy, Mahesh Kumar Goud, MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, AICC leaders Bosuraju, Chinnareddy, Maheshwar Reddy, Shabbir Ali, and others.

The Congress cadre will sit in front of the ED office as long as Rahul Gandhi remains in the agency’s office for questioning, Revanth Reddy told reporters. He said they would march from the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road until the ED office in Basheerbagh and sit on a dharna there.

According to Revanth Reddy, the notices issued by the ED against party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were nothing but revenge politics practised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who are experts in “diversion politics to hide their failures.”

Various Congress leaders, including Gandhis, have been charged with misappropriating National Herald funds. Originally, the case was filed with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the ED case is based on the CBI case.
