Tamil Nadu Govt Directs Special Vaccination Centres In Tourist Places; 5 Deaths in 24 Hours

With the aim to increase the speed of vaccinations across the country, Tamil Nadu Medical and Family Welfare Ministry announced that they will be prioritising Covid 19 vaccines in the major tourist spots.

Tamil Nadu CM Directs Special Vaccination Drives 

As per the latest reports, Tamil Nadu Medical and Family Welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian said that the state will prioritise vaccination drives across major tourist spots in the state. In a statement released on Thursday night, Subramanian said that the directions have been given to the district administrators to achieve 100 percent vaccination in tourist and religious places like Velankanni and Nagoor.

The minister further said that the district administrators have already been put on alert to conduct special vaccination drives in the tourist spots within their districts. He also said that special emphasis has been laid on the vaccination for the tribals and the tea workers in the Nilgiris district.

The minister added that the state expects to achieve 100 percent vaccination in these areas within a week. He also informed that local legislator Anbil Mahesh Poymozhi worked tirelessly towards 100 percent vaccination of all the eligible adult population in Kattur except for the pregnant women.

In the statement, Subramanian also recalled that Kattur was the place where the memorial of Late Chief Minister and doyen of DMK politics is to come up.

The minister also said that the government has taken stringent action against 40 private hospitals in the state where the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive health insurance scheme was not implemented properly.

Puducherry Reports Five Covid 19 Deaths 

In the latest update, Puducherry reported 261 new cases of Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. The overall tally has now increased to 1,16,186, a senior official from the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services confirmed on Friday.

At the same time, Tamil Nadu also reported five Covid 19 deaths in the past 24 hours. Four of them were from Puducherry itself and one was from Karaikal.
