Madras High Court Grants Bail To Actor Mansoor Ali Khan Over Covid 19 Vaccination Misinformation

Ever since the Covid 19 vaccines were announced, the country has been flooding with misinformation related to the same. In a similar case, the Madras High Court granted anticipatory bail to actor Mansoor Ali Khan.

Actor Spreads Heart Attack Rumours Related to Covid 19 Vaccine 

Actor Mansoor Ali Khan was arrested by the Chennai police after he started to make statements in front of a private hospital. His friend Vivek was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack. Following this, Khan said that he had suffered a heart attack after he took the first dose of the Covid 19 vaccine on April 15. And the statement made by him went viral over social media.

After this, the Vadapalani police registered an FIR under Section 153, Section 270, and Section 505 (1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code. The police also invoked Provisions of the Endemic Act and the Disaster Management Act against Khan.

However, during the hearing, Khan said that his statement was a result of an emotional outburst after seeing his friend suffer through a heart attack. However, he did not intend on hurting anyone or spreading any kind of misinformation regarding the Covid 19 vaccine.

For now, the Madras High Court has granted him anticipatory bail and imposed fine. Justice M Dhandapani has asked him to pay Rs 2 lakh to the Health Secretary to purchase Covidshied as part of his bail.

National AEFI Committee Reports 180 Deaths Post Covid Vaccine 

As per the presentation made to the National AEFI Committee on March 31, there have been a total of 617 severe cases after following the immunization against the coronavirus. However, out of these approximately 51% of deaths were related to acute coronary syndrome or heart attack. And 12% were due to stroke. None of the deaths so far have been associated with Covid 19 vaccine.

The government recently opened the portal for citizens above the age of 18 to register for Covid 19 vaccine. Reports suggest that on the first day itself, the portal received over 1.55 crores registrations.
