Nagarjuna Sagar by-elections – Political heat goes up in Telangana

Political heat has gone up in Telangana due to the upcoming by-elections in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency. While the opposition Congress party has fielded its veteran leader and former minister K. Jana Reddy for the seat, the ruling TRS and its rival BJP have not yet declared the names of their party candidates. The TRS and the BJP are going ahead with strategies and counter-strategies ahead of the elections.

The TRS Party is planning to declare its candidate only after the declaration of the BJP candidate. On the other hand, the saffron party is also waiting for the declaration of the candidate by the TRS party. As the ticket hopefuls are huge in number, the state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar is holding discussions with all the hopefuls. The BJP leaders like Anjaiah Yadav, Nivedita Reddy, Indrasena Reddy, and Ravi Naik are in the race for the party ticket. Clarity is likely to emerge on the BJP candidate by Sunday.

The ruling party is also likely to declare its candidate in a day or two as it wants to retain its sitting seat. Indications are being given that the ruling party will field a BC candidate from the Yadava community. The son of the former MLA of the constituency late Nomula Narasimhaiah’s son Nomula Bhagat is ahead of the race for the party ticket. The leaders from the same Yadava community Ranjith Yadav, Guruvaiah Yadav, Doodimetla Balaraju Yadav are also vying for the ticket. As there is competition among the leaders of the same community, the TRS leadership is taking steps to prevent the defections of any of the leaders from the same community.

The CM of the State KCR has already gathered the opinions of the State Minister from Nalgonda district G. Jagadish Reddy, State Legislative Council Chairman G. Sukhender Reddy, and other important leaders of the district. The TRS party leaders are saying that it would be sensational news if the Party ticket was allotted to any other leader other than Nomula Bhagat. The ruling party has shifted its focus on preparing the party leadership for the by-elections since December last year. It is also carrying out a full-fledged election campaign without declaring the party candidate. The CM also took part in a public meeting held at Halia and laid the foundation stone for various development programs.

The general secretary of the Party Takkelapally Ravinder Rao has been campaigning at the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency for the last three months. He is not only motivating the party caders but also briefing KCR about the status of the party in the constituency. The party has entrusted the responsibilities of various mandals of the constituency to State ministers and MLAs.

The party MLAs like Korukanti Chandar, Jeevan Reddy, Balka Suman, Koneru Konappa, Bhupal Reddy, Ravindra Kumar are campaigning for the party. Karimnagar Mayor Sunil Rao Satavahana Urban Development Authority Chairman GV Ramakrishna Rao is also campaigning for the party candidates along with their supporters. The constituency has 2.17 lakh voters. The Yadavalli, Lambadas, Reddy, Madiga, Mala, Mudiraj, Muslim, Munnurkapu, Gouda, and Rajaka communities have a large number of voters in the constituency.
