Ludacris & Gucci Mane Left Curren$y Star-Struck At Essence Fest

Ludacris and Gucci Mane have made quite an impression on Curren$y, who ran into the Hip Hop heavyweights after performing at Essence Fest over the weekend.

Spitta had popped out during Jermaine Dupri’s set to run through a few songs with his For Motivational Use Onlycollaborator, and the New Orleans rapper took a moment to speak about when he saw Luda and the 1017 leader backstage, and said the experience left him starstruck.

“I was back stage at essence just ready to do my lil verse for JD and get out of all the superstars way but errbody was like Spitta what up !!!” Curren$y wrote on Twitter. “And shit like that. Fuckin Gucci Mane was like ‘that’s my dawg Curren$y right there’ And I’m like nooowayyyy haha sweet fuckin night man.”

He continued, “Ludacris too I never met no got damn Ludacris before and he was like what up N-gga and chill as fuck I can’t believe bruh knew who I was. I went home and was like fuck man. Should I go after parties tonight… and wear shades in the club ya know . But i chilled out.”

This weekend’s Essence Festival was full of memorable moments, but needless to say Juvenile stole the show during his set on Friday (June 30). Despite the organizers originally blowing off the Nolia legend from their “The South Got Something To Say” set, the Hot Boy “Set It Off” on Friday (June 30) with a set that began at about 10:30 p.m. ET.

The crowd exploded when he launched into “Back That Azz Up,” his breakthrough song from 1999 that features Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne, and appears on Juvie’s third album 400 Degreez.

The performance at Essence Fest followed a G.O.A.T.-worthy performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, where he and Mannie Fresh brought some New Orleans bounce by running through a few of their biggest hits.

As for Curren$y, he just dropped off his latest Harry Fraud collaborative tape, Vices, which dropped on Friday (June 30) and features appearances from Jim Jones, Rome Streetz, Larry June, Benny The Butcher and others.

Vices is Curren$y and Harry Fraud’s eighth collaborative project. The duo has previously released two studio albums, four EPs and one mixtape together.
