Lochore race ace Lennon claims double Knockhill win

The talented 15-year-old headed to his home circuit for round four of the HEL Performance British Junior Supersport Championship, which is a support class of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, and powered to victory in both of the two races that took place.

A large contingent of family, friends and sponsors were set to cheer on Lennon, who was named as the 2022 Benarty Citizen of the Year, and he went into the weekend riding high on the back of securing his first podium place in the competition at Donington Park last time out.

A third place in race two was the youngster’s reward, and he headed for Scotland’s national motorsport centre with his sights set on trying to secure a maiden race win over the remainder of the campaign, commenting: “I think now we want to push on for a win at some point this season.

“We’ve got six rounds to go, so, if I keep working hard, and training, we’re more than capable of doing it.”

On Saturday, he showed that he is as he took the chequered flag in first place for the first time since stepping up into the Junior Supersport Championship for this year, before making it a dream double on Sunday.

He wrote on his Facebook page: “So happy to have picked up 2/2 race wins this weekend, and to do so at home meant the world to me.

“That win was for you dad, happy Father’s Day.

“Just want to say a huge huge thank you to everyone who came to support me this weekend and cheer me on from the sideline, your support was fantastic.”

Lennon, who is on the lookout for new sponsors, is next in action at Donington Park over the weekend of June 30 to July 2.
