2015 Australian Open quarterfinalist, Nick Kyrgios has been one of the most extravagant players in recent years. Many consider him highly talented. Earlier in his career, Nick would allow his emotions to get the better of himself. It seriously affected the outcome of those matches.

With time, the Greek-Australian player has mellowed down and has shown overall maturity in his game and attitude. People in the tennis fraternity consider him highly talented, who is capable of going deep into the majors. Going back to when the Australian first arrived, he had beaten Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2014.

In another interesting fact, Nick Kyrgios beat Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic too, the first time he ever played against them. Recently, an old clip of Kyrgios surfaced. The Australian was up against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with American actor Will Smith sitting in the crowds.

Nick Kyrgios: Felt Nervous Seeing Will Smith

After their match, Jim Courier did an on-court interview, in which he asked Kyrgios about Smith being present. To which, Nick said, “Honestly when I saw him out here I was so nervous, No joke. I was thinking oh my god. People think that I’m cool but I wanted him to think I was the coolest man ever. I’ve got to tell him.”

After which, Jim turned towards Smith in the crowds to get his approval. To which, Smith gave a huge ‘thumbs up’, much to everyone’s satisfaction present at the Rod Laver Arena. Later next match, Kyrgios lost to the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.

Nick Kyrgios Has Not Played Since Early 2020

In the 2020 season, Nick Kyrgios played the longest match in his career. He registered a win against the big Russian, Karen Khachanov. In the following match, he lost to Spain’s Rafael Nadal. It happened to be his last match at the Grand Slams in the year after he injured his wrist.

Nick Kyrgios was targeting an early return this year, but he pulled out of the ATP Cup, scheduled from the 1st of next month. We hope to see him present at the Australian Open.
