Conor McGregor is arguably the biggest star the UFC has ever seen. Apart from numerous PPV records, Conor became the first fighter to hold two UFC titles simultaneously. ‘The Notorious’ captured the promotions featherweight and lightweight title and coined the term, ‘Champ-Champ’ in the process.

On the back of a redemption win over Nate Diaz, McGregor challenged for the UFC lightweight title against Eddie Alvarez. With the featherweight belt already over his shoulder, Conor looked to replicate his double world championship time at Cage Warriors, at the highest level of the sport.

Alvarez dismissed Conor’s move up to lightweight. He said, “Usually when I square off with a man, my heart rate goes up, I feel something.” He continued, “I never felt so unthreatened by a human being as when I was up on a stage with him. That’s the God’s honest truth. I’ve never felt so unthreatened.”

The fighter paid the price at the UFC’s inaugural event at Madison Square Garden.

McGregor would go on to make history by knocking out Alvarez to win his second UFC belt. It was a dominant performance by the Irish superstar with ‘The Underground King’, not even being able to land a takedown. A user reminded ‘The Notorious’ about Alvarez’s pre and post-fight comments. 

McGregor replied, “Strangely this knockdown, the 4th of 5 in this bout, wasn’t scored a knockdown. Yet he went to a knee. 3 point of contact = knockdown! With this scored, I would have not only the record for “Fastest KO in a UFC title fight”, but I’d also have the record for “Most Knockdowns” in one too.”

McGregor would go on to win in the second round with strikes. However, the ‘Champ Champ’ feels he should be holding the record for ‘Fastest KO’ and ‘Most Knockdowns’ in the promotion.

‘The Notorious’ is now scheduled for a return to the UFC in January to fight Dustin Poirier. While the MMA organization is yet to provide any official confirmation, Conor should be back in the octagon sooner rather than later. Will he attempt to earn a title fight and claim the record he felt should have been his at UFC 205?
