Amid an ongoing review of work visas granted after completing studies in Britain and a ban on inviting family members on government-funded scholarships, the Number of Indian Students at British universities is falling.
According to recently released figures, the number of Indian students admitted to British universities has dropped by four percent.
Figures from the Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) show that the number of international students on graduate courses has increased by 0.7 per cent. However, there has been a decline in the number of Nigerian and Indian students.
Applications from Indian students fell by four percent to 8,770, while the number of Nigerian students fell by 46 percent to 1,590.
UK higher education remains attractive to international students, according to UCAS figures. The number of international students in graduate courses increased by 0.7 percent.
The number of students from China has increased by910 (3 percent) , Turkey by 710 (37 percent) , Canada by 340 (14 percent). The number of Nigerian students has decreased by 46 percent and the number of Indian students by 4 percent.
It is worth mentioning that Britain's Home Department has formed an independent Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to review post-education work visas.
