20 women gang-raped on the pretext of work in an anganwadi in Rajasthan


- Rapists also released a video of the rape

- The victim women were raped by mixing drugs in their food and a bribe of five lakhs was also demanded.

Barmer: A case of gang rape of around 20 women has come to light in Rajasthan's Sirohi district in an anganwadi on the pretext of employment. Police have so far registered eight FIRs and have started investigation. The victims alleged that Sirohi City Council chief Anekishner along with eight to ten people raped them and also made a video of it.

In the complaint filed before the police, the victims have alleged that they were all called to Sirohi on the pretext of getting jobs in Anganwadi centers and were then raped.

The Chairperson and the Commissioner have denied the allegations. City council chief Mahendra Mewada and former commissioner Mahendra Chaudhary and their accomplices have been charged. Both have dismissed the allegations against them terming the case as fabricated. A police official said on condition of anonymity that all the FIRs contain the same allegations.

The complainants alleged that more than 15 women reached the Anganwadi centers in search of jobs two to three months ago. At that time she met Mahendra Mewada and Mahendra Chaudhary. An acquaintance also arranged for their accommodation.

The victimized women alleged that their food was laced with drugs. So after the meal she fainted. When he regained consciousness, he felt a headache. She alleged that Mahendra Mewada, Mahendra Chaudhary and their associates raped her and also made a video of it. It is alleged that he also demanded a bribe of five lakh rupees.
