"Israel is not ready to accept the two-nation principle, my country is still on Oct. 7's Attack Not Forgotten'' : Isaac Herzog

- Will all Palestinians be expelled from Gaza?

Tel Aviv: Israeli leader Isaac Herzog, speaking on behalf of President Netanyahu, has made it clear that Israel is not ready to accept the two-nation principle.

"While my country is still reeling from the October 7 attack by Hamas," Isaac Herzog told The Associated Press a day ahead of US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan's meeting here tomorrow. This is not the time to talk about establishing an independent state of (Palestine) while still in shock. My question is that "two-nation theory" is the solution, why? why ? (dvi-nation-should be created). This is a question of emotions, it should be looked at emotionally. The memory of the October 7th Hamas attack is still fresh.

He further said: "What sufferings we are going through before talking about bi-nation, how shocked we are. They must consider. We should also think about our safety. The safety of our people should be considered.

In fact, Herzog's party—the Labor Party—was once a supporter of the two-nation (Israel and Palestine) principle, but changed its stance after the October 7 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 people. More than 240 were taken hostage by Hamas. After this started a war of attrition which does not seem to end in the near future.

Israel first asked the Palestinians to move away from the upper part of the Gaza Strip along the Mediterranean Sea - to withdraw to the south. Now the invasion has started in the south as well.

Observers fear that displacing Palestinians throughout Gaza is the name of Israel. America also talks about peace from outside. It is convenient for its warships to be able to anchor off the Gaza Strip from where they can extend to the Sinai peninsula if necessary. Talks of peace are "cover-chasing".
