Jewish Marriage Traditions: Judaism is one of the oldest religions. But in the culture of this religion there is a glimpse of another religion in the tradition of marriage. Change is also seen in traditions

In Jewish culture in general, as in other religions, it is considered a contract with a sacred bond. It has been observed that many wedding ceremonies here resemble those of other religions, as between the 18th and 19th centuries, the Jewish religion and culture developed different traditions and customs in different countries. In many of these places, local cultural concepts have also been adopted, leading to changes in traditions.

Contract marriage takes place

Even in Judaism, marriage is a contract marriage. Usually no Muhurta is observed for this, but the marriage is performed on a Sunday. In the presence of witnesses, the bride and groom accept each other's choice and promise to be with each other for life.

The wedding is called kiddushin

In Jewish culture a wedding is called kiddushin. Even Jews have a custom of wearing a ring before marriage, which is called engagement in Hinduism. There is a tradition of meeting before marriage called Yom Kippur Vidui. In which the boy and the girl pray the confessional together and swear to be faithful to each other in the new life, asking for forgiveness for past mistakes.

Mandap is also found like Hindu marriage

The chuppah has a prominent place in Jewish weddings. In which Hindu wedding tradition is similar to what is called Mandwa. Most marriage ceremonies are performed in the chuppah itself. In which the bride and groom take turns around the chuppah. Which are four or seven in number.

Marriage is done according to Jewish law

After this rings are exchanged. The groom places the ring on the right index finger of the bride. According to traditional Jewish law, two authorized witnesses must see him wearing the ring. Then the marriage contract is read in the presence of witnesses.

At the end of the ceremony is the practice of breaking the glass

After giving the ring to the bride, or at the end of the ceremony, the groom breaks the glass and then crushes it with his right foot. At this point the guests "Mazel Tov!" The word pronounces, which means greeting in Hebrew. After this, the groom is given a cup of wine to drink and the bride also drinks the wine, in many traditions it is customary to just apply the wine to the lips. Then a week after the wedding, the guests and relatives welcome the bride and groom. A special type of dance is also performed in this festival called Sheva Brkot.
