- Winter to start early this year: Temperature likely to drop across the country in coming days: Meteorological Department
Srinagar, New Delhi: Snowfall is starting again in the western areas surrounding the Kashmir Valley. While it is raining heavily in the low lying areas. Due to this, the temperature has dropped in the entire Kashmir. Giving this information, the Meteorological Department said that there was snowfall in Gurez, Pir-ki-Gali, Ziziwa, Dras and Machhib areas. While plain parts Srinagar, Pulwama, Shepian, Anantnag and Baramulla received heavy rain. Gurez-Bandipora and Srinagar-Kargil roads were closed due to snowfall.
The Meteorological Department says, there is a possibility of rain/snowfall (over higher elevations) in Jammu and Kashmir. This situation is likely to remain tomorrow on 17th as well. The situation will improve from 18th.
Authorities have advised farmers not to do lani (harvest) on the 17th as the weather is expected to remain bad. The meteorological department's forecast further states that not only in Jammu and Kashmir but also in the entire country, the temperature is likely to drop to a minimum. The department further states that winter will start earlier in the country this year.
Regarding Jammu and Kashmir, the department said that due to snowfall and heavy rains, communication is likely to be cut with Zozila, Mughal Road, Sinthan Tom, Sadna Tom, while due to bad weather, farmers have once again been advised not to go for harvesting on the 17th.
