Earthquake hits Delhi-NCR for the second time in 2 weeks, people rush out of their homes

Earthquake tremors felt in Delhi-NCR on Sunday. Along with Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad also had tremors on Sunday. So, earthquake has occurred in some areas of Haryana as well. The magnitude of the earthquake was 3.1, with the epicenter in Faridabad, Haryana. Earlier on October 3 earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR. The intensity of the earthquake was so strong that people rushed out of their houses onto the road.

Why do earthquakes happen?

There are total seven plates inside the earth. Which is always working. Where these plates collide is called a fault zone. When these plates collide, energy tries to escape. These plate movements become earthquakes. The closer an earthquake's epicenter is to the surface, the more destruction it causes.

What kind of earthquake is felt at what intensity?

If the magnitude of the earthquake is 0 to 1.9 Richter, it is not felt. Its information is obtained through seismograph. On the other hand, mild tremors are felt at 2 to 2.9 Richter. Apart from this, if its magnitude is 3 to 3.9, a few more shocks are felt. Also, 4 to 4.9 Richter can cause windows to break, while 5 to 5.9 Richter can cause moving of goods and fans. When the magnitude of the earthquake is 6 to 6.9, the foundations of the house may crack, and when the magnitude reaches 7 to 7.9, the houses may collapse and cause a lot of destruction. And if there is an earthquake of magnitude 8 to 8.9, there is also a danger of tsunami. If the magnitude of the earthquake is 9, then the earth appears to be moving.
