( PTI) New Delhi ,dt. 10

Stating that the foundations for the growth of the Indian aviation sector are strong, aircraft maker Boeing has emphasized that continuous investment in infrastructure, training of people, harmonization of fueltaxes and infrastructure are needed to meet the demand.

Boeing has several orders from various airlines in India. It has announced various investment schemes including USD 100 million to train pilots in the country.

Salil Gupta, president of Boeing India, said in an interview that we do not see any slowdown in India and we are seeing very high load factor among airlines , high profit margins and very strong demand for aircraft.

He further said that we have seen the largest orders in the world so far. We are seeing that demand is increasing. We are also seeing strong progress in infrastructure as new terminals are being built as are greenfield airports.

Which will prove to be a boon for the Indian aviation sector. He said that for the past few years, everyone had hoped for significant growth in the Indian aviation sector. Which is now changing in fact.

India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world. Indian Airlines has ordered 1500 planes. At the beginning of this year, Air India had ordered 470 aircraft. In which 220 aircraft of Boeing are also included.

Gupta said that Indian airlines will need 2200 aircraft in the next 20 years. For which there must be sufficient number of pilots and mechanics in the country.
