Sudden change in weather in Ahmedabad... Torrential rain in many areas amid unbearable heat

After a long break in the city, Meghraja has entered the city. According to the forecast of Meteorological department, Rain has started in Ahmedabad city today. After one-and-a-half months of prolonged rains, the city has experienced a sudden change in weather, due to which many places are reporting normal to heavy rainfall. Areas including Jivaraj Park, Vejalpur, SG Highway, Naroda, Bapunagar, Krishnanagar, Memco, Danilimda, Shah Alam, Khodiyarnagar have received normal to heavy rain.

While the Meteorological Department had predicted rain in many areas including Ahmedabad city, now it is raining in many areas of the city. It is worth mentioning that since the mercury has gone up for the past several days, people were suffering from heat and cold, now after the rains, the atmosphere has once again cooled down, which has given relief to the people from the heat.

Rain forecast in Gujarat till 12th

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in South, North and Central Gujarat. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in most districts of the state till September 12. There is a possibility of rain especially in areas including Panchmahal, Dahod, Godhra, Navsari, Dang, Saputara, Himmatnagar.

More than 91 percent rain fall in 21 districts

The state has received 81.85 percent rainfall till September 5. Despite this much rain, 21 districts of the state are lacking more than 91 percent of rain. 27 and a half inches of rain in June-July set the highest rainfall record in the last 96 years. But the farmers were worried as the rain stopped in August. In the month of August, the state should receive an average of 9 inches of rain, against which only one and a half inches of rain has fallen by 89%. Porbandar has been the most deficient district in the state with 99% less rainfall. In the state, Kutch has received 136.19%, North Gujarat 67.96%, Central Gujarat 66.19%, Saurashtra 110.12%, South Gujarat 73.74%.

A total of 76.60% of water storage took place in 207 reservoirs

207 reservoirs of the state including Sardar Sarovar have recorded a total of 76.60% water storage at the end of August. Out of that 70.72% water quantity is usable. Talking about the status of Dams in other zones, currently 74.27% of water is available in 15 dams of North Gujarat, 45.36% in 17 dams of Central Gujarat, 76.33% in 13 dams of South Gujarat, 62.37% in 20 dams of Kutch, 81.93% in 141 dams of Saurashtra. Whereas 84.05% of water is currently available in Sardar lake. Now talking about dam warning, currently 90 dams in the state are on high alert, more than 90 percent full. While 25 dams filled with more than 80 tares are on alert. 17 dams that are more than 70 percent full have been put on warning. While 74 dams have less than 70 percent water.

Lowest rainfall in the country in 123 years on Aug-23

In the country Data including rainfall has been preserved since 1901, according to which the month of August this year has received the lowest rainfall in the previous 122 years. Before this, in August-2005, the average was 191.2 mm. It was a record of low rainfall which has been broken this year with only 162.7 mm of rainfall recorded in August-2023. On the other hand, since 1901, the hottest month of August has been recorded. 32.19 cm in August 2023. was recorded which broke the 2009 record of 31.92 s. In India 1971-2020 i.e. 254.9 mm of rain per year on an average in the last fifty years, this year there has been 36 percent less rain. South India and central India also recorded the lowest August rainfall in 123 years this year. South India has received barely 3 inches of rain this month and is a whopping 60 percent short of normal.
