67-year-old Qureshi was embroiled in a case of leaking secret diplomatic talks
Islamabad: Shah Mehmood Qureshi, a close aide of the jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and former foreign minister of Pakistan, has been arrested from his house.
He has been arrested under the Official Secrets Act in connection with the leak of confidential diplomatic labels. After the arrest, the 67-year-old vice-chairman of the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party was taken to the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Qureshi, a two-time foreign minister, has been arrested under the Official Secrets Act. He is accused of not maintaining the secrecy of official cables sent by the Pakistani embassy to the US when he was the foreign minister.
After Dharpak, Quresh was produced in the Sessions Court. The court allowed the FIA's one-day remand request in the Cipher case.
Judicial Magistrate Ehtisham Alam Khan has issued an order directing the FIA to appear before the court again on Monday.
