US Ambassador to India Aris Garcetti has announced that the US government is ready to return India's collection of ancient and historical statues and artefacts. The American ambassador has said that this art collection is a deposit of India and its place is in India.

In a cultural event held in New York, Garcetti and India's Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh Sandhu were involved and in this event Garcetti made the above announcement.
America is going to return a total of 105 idols to India. All these idols date from the 3rd century to between the 18th and 19th centuries. These idols were stolen from India in the past and reached America and other countries. Last year also, America returned 157 idols to India.
Recently, when PM Modi visited America, cultural property agreement was discussed between India and America. In which there was a proposal to put a stop to the black market of historical artefacts. Discussions are going on between the two countries on this issue and the campaign to repatriate the historical artefacts of India that have reached America will continue in the future as well.
The 105 idols to be returned include an Arizona-based Lord Buddha idol, idols from Vedic period Hindu temples.
