-ISKCON decided to ban Sant Amogh Leela Das for 1 month

New delhi date. 12 July 2023, Wednesday

International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Tuesday decided to ban ISKCON saint Amogha Leela Das for 1 month.

In its statement on the matter, ISKCON said that Leela Das was banned after a controversy arose over his comments about Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramahansa.


What is the whole event?

Notably, Amogha Leela Das made controversial remarks about Swami Vivekananda and his Guru Ramakrishna Paramahansa.

He said, 'If Swami Vivekananda eats fish, is he a Siddha Purusha? Because, no siddha purusha will ever eat fish because, fish also suffer. A siddha purusha has compassion in his heart. Not only this, Amogha Das Leela even said that some of Swami Vivekananda's words are not acceptable. Apart from this, he also targeted Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Amogh Das Leela's statement sparked a debate, after which ISKCON took this decision.

Who is Amogh Das Leela?

According to information, Amogh Das Leela belongs to a religious family in Lucknow. During many interviews, he has said that in the year 2000, when he was in the 12th standard, he left his home in search of God. However, he decided to come back and pursue a software engineering degree.

He completed his graduation in the year 2004 and after that he started working for a multinational corporation in America. He also held the position of Project Manager before deciding to leave the corporate world in 2010. At the age of 29, he joined ISKCON and became a Krishna Brahmachari. Engineer-turned-saint Amogh Das Leela is followed by many people on social media.
