Cyclone BIPARJOY Live: Cyclone 930 km from Porbandar, 10 feet high waves on the coast


There is a threat of Cyclone Biparjoy in the coastal areas of the country. According to Met department scientists, the cyclone will turn into a Severe Cyclonic Storm in next 48 hours i.e. by Saturday. Also during the next three days it will move towards North India.

Cyclone Biporjoy moving towards Gujarat is currently 930 km away from Porbandar. Following this storm, the system has been alerted in Gujarat and all officials have been instructed to be present at the spot. Alarm number 2 signal has been given at all the ports of the district. Along with this, people have been instructed not to go to the coast and fishermen not to plow the sea. Teams of NDRF and SDRF have also been alerted due to the storm.

Sea fishermen of Gir Somnath advised not to plow the sea

The system has come into alert mode regarding the possible threat of cyclone in Gir Somnath and a current has been observed in the sea of ​​Gir Somnath. Distress signal number 2 has been put up at Veraval, Sutrapada port and the fishermen of the coastal area have also been advised not to go near the sea.

District Collector Mr. B. A. Shah said that Biparjoy Cyclone system has developed in the Arabian Sea as predicted by the Meteorological Department. In accordance with the forecasts and warnings of the Meteorological Department, the district administration Jamnagar has made full preparations in this regard. In which all the officials of the district and taluka headquarters have been instructed to be present at their headquarters regularly and two number signals have been installed at all ports and all fishermen and boats have been recalled from the sea. Approximately 12 villages of Jamnagar rural, 8 villages of Jodia taluka and 2 villages of Lalpur taluka totaling 22 villages are located on the coast. For around 76,000 citizens living in it, necessary arrangements and planning have been made for safe shelter if required.

Meteorologists say the tentative track of the cyclone will be in a northerly direction, but storms often prove the predicted track and intensity wrong. Weather forecasting agencies said that the storm was changing from a cyclone to a severe cyclonic storm in just 48 hours, which could prove the previous assessment wrong. Atmospheric conditions indicate that a very severe cyclonic storm is likely to continue till June 12.

Alert in these states

Cyclone is likely to affect coastal areas of Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra. The IMD has issued a wind warning for the next five days in these areas. Wind speed is likely to increase from 80-90 kmph to 100 kmph over East-Central Arabian Sea and adjacent areas of West-Central and Southeast Arabian Sea. Besides, the areas around the West-Central and South Arabian Sea and along and off the coast of North Kerala, Karnataka and Goa are likely to be worst affected by the cyclone.
