Ahead of Modi's visit, intensive talks between India and the US to make strategic areas fruitful


- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit America between 21-24 June

- Agreements between the two countries for multi-sectoral cooperation and continuous operation of semiconductor chain

New Delhi: Agreements were signed between India and the US to promote 'Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies' (ICET), strategic technology and trade-collaboration. In the first of its kind meeting held today, these agreements were signed between India's National Security Advisor (NSN) Ajit Doval and America's NSA Jack Sullivan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi These strategic agreements were signed between the National Security Advisers of the two countries before he is scheduled to pay an official visit to the US between June 21 and 24.

The intention behind these agreements is to pave the way for fruitful talks ahead of Prime Minister Modi's official visit.

Doval and Sullivan identified six areas: innovation of eco-systems, innovation of defense systems, technical cooperation and agreements to form a continuous semiconductor chain. Apart from that, the issues of exchanging space science, science, technology, engineering and mathematics talent were also covered in it. Agreements were also signed regarding next generation telecommunications.

India's Foreign-Trade-Secretary Vinay Mohan Kawatra for the India-US Strategic Trade Dialogue (Iusstd) on Tuesday, and Alan Estevez, the US Department of Commerce's 'Under Secretary for Industry and Security' and the US State Department's Under Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Newland was present.
