Supreme Court granted bail to Satyendra Jain on grounds of ill health

( PTI) New Delhi ,dt. 26

The Supreme Court today granted six weeks' Interim Bail to jailed former Delhi Chief Minister Satyendra Jain on the grounds of ill health. It may be mentioned that he fell in Tihar Jail due to dizziness a day ago and was admitted in the ICU of the Government Hospital.

Jain was arrested by the ED in May last year in connection with a money laundering case and has been lodged in Tihar jail since then.

A bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice PS Narasimha allowed 58-year-old Jain to seek treatment at a hospital of his choice and ordered him to produce medical records by July 10.

The Supreme Court has directed Jain not to speak to the media during the interim Bail period. His interim bail will expire on July 11.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Jain, said the former minister had lost 35 kg and was suffering from spinal problems.

Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, demanded that Jain's medical examination be done by doctors at AIIMS or Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He further said that we have no objection to interim bail if these doctors recommend treatment.
