New Parliament Building: Advani invited? Udd Thackeray attacked PM Modi

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's party Shiv Sena (UBT) has hit out at the BJP government at the Center for not inaugurating the new Parliament House through President Draupadi Murmu. The party has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers the new Parliament premises as his fiefdom, as he feels that he has built the new Parliament building.

Targeted at PM Modi by 'Saamna'

The Shiv Sena (UBT) in an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Saamna', besides accusing PM Modi of inaugurating the new Parliament House, has questioned whether veteran BJP leader LK Advani has been invited to the May 28 event.

The mouthpiece Saamana further stated that the President is the head of the country and also the first citizen of India, so this post should not be insulted. The party has said in Samana that Modi's policy that the new parliament building was built by me and it is my fiefdom, that's why my name will be on the plaque, is dangerous for democracy.

Congress, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, Chief Minister MK Stalin's DMK, Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Communist Party of India, Indian Union Muslim League, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, National Conference, 19 parties including Kerala Congress (MANI), Revolutionary Socialist Party, Viduthalai Chiruthigal Katchi (VCK), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kadgam (MDMK) and Rashtriya Lok Dal announced a mass boycott, saying President Draupadi Murmu has been insulted by the government. Subsequently, Telangana Chief Minister KCR's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and MP Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM also said they would not participate in the inaugural programme.

Opposition parties at the inauguration of the new parliament include JDS, N. Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Shiromani Akali Dal, former Chief Minister Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. .Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Lok Janshakti Party (Paswan) will be present.

What did the government say?

On the boycott by opposition parties, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently said that politics should not be done on every issue. We have sent invitations to everyone. Now whether they come or not depends on their discretion. Everyone makes a decision according to their own opinion.
