Invitation to all country's MPs-Chief Minister for inauguration of new Parliament House, possibility of boycott by opposition

Invitations for the Inauguration of the new Parliament House have been sent to all the MPs and prominent leaders of the country. It includes all former Speakers and Speakers of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Chief Ministers of States and MPs of both Houses. The invitation letter is sent in both physical and digital form. Apart from this, invitations have also been sent to the secretaries of all the ministries of the Government of India. Meanwhile, many opposition forces including the Congress may boycott this programme.

Chief Architect and Ratan Tata were also invited

Bimal Patel, the chief architect of the new Parliament Building and prominent industrialist Ratan Tata have also been invited for the Inauguration Ceremony. Several prominent personalities including film stars and sportspersons have also been invited for this historic occasion.

The President and Vice President may issue messages at the inauguration of the new Parliament

President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar are expected to greet the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28. Sources said that both the President and the Vice President will deliver congratulatory messages on the inauguration day. The opposition recently accused the BJP-led central government of disrespecting the top constitutional posts by not allowing President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhard to inaugurate the new Parliament House.

Opposition parties will boycott the inauguration ceremony

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Communist Party of India (CPI), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and CPIM have announced not to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building. TMC leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien, CPI general secretary D Raja and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said they would boycott the inauguration ceremony. According to sources, like-minded opposition forces may soon jointly announce a boycott of the inauguration ceremony and demand the President to inaugurate the new Parliament building. A final decision will be taken on his behalf today after receiving the formal invitation.
