Relief news! Ceasefire announced for 7 days in Sudan, agreed between both parties

A seven-day ceasefire has been agreed between the army and the paramilitary force RSF in war-torn Sudan. The ceasefire will come into effect on May 4 and last until May 11. The announcement could boost rescue efforts for foreign nationals stranded in Sudan. It is worth mentioning that the battle between the army and the paramilitary force to seize power in Sudan is going on, in which about 400 people have been killed so far.

The US pulled out 1,000 of its citizens from Sudan

The US has so far evacuated nearly 1,000 of its citizens since the outbreak of violence in Sudan. Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, said that these nationals were evacuated from Sudan as part of a multinational effort. 200 US officials have been working around the clock to evacuate their citizens from Sudan since the crisis began.

More than one lakh people forced to migrate

The ongoing Civil War in Sudan has so far forced one lakh people to flee their homes across the border. The three-week-old civil war is turning into a humanitarian crisis, UN officials said on Tuesday, amid shelling and bombing in the capital Khartoum in violation of a ceasefire. Sudan's poor neighboring countries are facing a refugee crisis. The civil war has hampered aid in Sudan, where two-thirds of the population was already dependent on outside aid. Michael Dunford, East Africa director at the United Nations World Food Programme, said the danger is that this is not just a Sudanese crisis, it is now going to become a regional crisis.

India shifted its embassy from Khartoum to Port Sudan

Considering the current situation in Sudan, India has decided to temporarily transfer its embassy from the violence-hit capital Khartoum to Port Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the decision to temporarily relocate the embassy from Khartoum to Port Sudan has been taken in view of the attack on the city of Khartoum and the security situation in Sudan.
