Baahubali leader and former MP Anand Mohan Singh has been released from jail after 16 years. He came out of the jail at 4.30 am today after completing all the formalities. The then District Magistrate (DM) of Gopalganj G. Anand Mohan was serving a life sentence in Krishnaiah's murder case. The Bihar government is also being severely criticized for the release of Anand Mohan. Meanwhile, a PIL has also been filed in the Patna High Court against the decision of the Nitish government and a demand has been made to quash the notification of the Bihar government.

Manjhi supported

Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi has supported the release of Anand Mohan. He said, 'This release is being done under legal process. We know Anand Mohan personally, he was not a criminal, the people killed were Dalits. The killing was not justified, but Anand Mohan met the punishment he had decided. Now where is the rule to keep him in jail even after the sentence?

Anand Mohan's troubles may increase

While politics has heated up over the release of Anand Mohan, on the other hand a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Patna High Court against the Nitish government's decision. The petition, filed by Amar Jyoti, has sought quashing of the Bihar government's order to change the prison manual. A petition has been filed against the removal of the punishment for "murder of a Government servant on duty" in Rule 481 (i)(a) of the Jail Manual 2012. The petition said that the government's decision will reduce the morale of the government employees.

Controversy over wrong age

There was also false information about Anand Mohan's age. In 2004, Anand Mohan stated his age as 44 years in his election affidavit, according to which Anand Mohan's age should not be more than 64 years, but in the government order of release, Anand Mohan's age is stated as 75 years. Anand Mohan is said to be older than both Lalu and Nitish. While in jail, Anand Mohan was accused of keeping a mobile phone in jail, going home during court appearances.

DM was convicted in the murder case

In the year 1994, Anand Mohan's name came up in the murder of Gopalganj DM G Krishnaiah. In 2007, the court sentenced Anand Mohan to death in this case. However, the sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment. Anand Mohan neither got relief from the High Court nor from the Supreme Court. After serving 15 years in prison, Anand Mohan has now been freed by a decision of the Nitish government, after which politics has heated up.
