Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir received heavy snowfall for the second day in a row amid heat wave in some states, along with this, an avalanche warning has also been issued. The Meteorological Department has warned of avalanches in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The situation is particularly worse in Kupwara and Bandipora districts. While on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway, the temperature dropped due to snowfall.

The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority issued an alert on Wednesday and said there are chances of avalanches in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The situation may worsen especially in Poonch, Baramulla, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar. Heavy to very heavy snowfall is likely in these districts in the next 24 hours. People living in these areas have been advised to stay indoors for a while and take precautionary measures.
Himachal Pradesh also experienced rain and snowfall, while visibility was reduced due to heavy fog. Shimla, famous for tourists, caused traffic problems due to visibility. The temperature in Spiti district reached minus 0.1 degree. When it rained in Shimla. Apart from this, some parts of Haryana and Punjab also received normal rain. Other states of North India also saw a slight drop in temperature due to rain and it is predicted that there will be relief from the heat in the coming days as well. On the other hand, the heat took care of Rajasthan, while the dust storm in Bikaner and Jodhpur put people in trouble in many areas. Rajasthan's Sriganganagar received moderate rains, bringing some relief from the heat. There are chances of moderate rain in Jaipur and Bharatpur on Thursday also.
