A case has been registered against a professor of Tamil Nadu's Rukmani Devi College of Fine Arts for sexually harassing female students. A former student of Kalakshetra Foundation filed a complaint against the professor before the Chennai City Police. The police is investigating the matter.

Complained to the Commissioner of Police
The ex-student met police commissioner Shankar Jeewal and complained that assistant professor Hari Padman had sent her obscene messages. The complaint was sent to Adyar Mahila Police Station where a case was registered against the professor. A case was registered against Padman under Sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
More than 100 students complained
Earlier yesterday, around 100 female students of the Kalakshetra Foundation filed a petition with the Tamil Nadu Commission for Women, complaining of ill-treatment and sexual harassment against at least four male faculty members. Protests against sexual harassment had started by the students on Thursday which continued on Friday as well. The college was closed due to the sit-in. State Women's Commission Chairperson AS Kumari also visited the campus.
