The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (Tirupati Balaji Temple) located in southern India has 10.3 tonnes of gold worth Rs 5300 crore and the famous temple has cash of Rs 15938 crore in various banks. The total wealth of Tirupati Balaji temple is believed to be over 2.50 lakh rupees. Daily income of 2 to 3 crore rupees is also generated.
This wealth includes land, buildings, parcels, cash and gold deposited in banks gifted to the temple by devotees. The estimated value of the properties owned by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam across the country could be over Rs 2.5 lakh crore. This includes land parcels, buildings, cash and gold deposited in banks given by devotees as prasad to the temple.
Cash in banks was Rs 13,025 crore in 2019, rising to Rs 15,938 crore by January 2023, according to data released. Thus, it has increased by around Rs 2,900 crore in the last 3 years. Apart from this, the supply of gold has also increased, as it was 7.4 tonnes of gold in 2019 and has increased by 2.9 tonnes in 3 years. According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, the value of gold and cash has increased since the year 2019. For 2022-23 introduced in February, around Rs. 3,100 crore annual budget, interest income from cash deposits in banks is Rs. 668 crore was estimated.
