Inflation in Britain is breaking the bank. The prices of fruits and vegetables have skyrocketed. Inflation has worsened the situation in the UK, causing a tomato shortage in the market. Tomatoes are not found even by searching in the market. Now hotels and restaurants are making pasta and pizza without tomato. The government blamed the weather for the high prices of fruits and vegetables. Many restaurants may be closed permanently after this inflation.

The UK government has said that bad weather in southern Europe and North Africa has caused severe damage to the tomato crop, reducing production. Italian Culinary Consortium president Carmelo Carnevale said that tomato prices in the country have tripled in the last two weeks. The situation is that now white sauce is being used instead of tomato in hotels and restaurants.
According to the Chefs Association, the price of tomato in the UK has increased four times in the last one year. Earlier its price was five pounds i.e. 490 rupees per box which has now increased to 20 pounds i.e. 1980 rupees. FIC UK chairman Enzo Oliveri said Italian restaurants in the UK are going through a tough time due to rising costs following Brexit issues. The situation is so bad that some restaurants may even close down here.
Britain imports about 95% of its tomatoes during the winter season. Most tomatoes come to Britain from Spain and North African countries. Now southern Spain is facing unusually cold weather. Not only this, floods in Morocco have caused massive damage to crops.
