Amarpuri alias Jalebi Baba, who lured around 120 women by putting caffeine in tea, has been jailed. A fast track court in Haryana's Fatehabad has sentenced Jalebi Baba to 14 years. Jalebi Baba has also been accused of making obscene videos of women. Amarpuri used to take advantage of the helplessness and coercion of the women who came to him for help. This Hawaskhor Baba used to prepare a video of the rape and threatened to make the clip viral and continued to commit rape.
According to reports, Additional District Judge Balwant Singh has sentenced the 63-year-old impostor Baba to 14 years under Section 6 of the POSCO Act for repeatedly raping a minor. Besides, he has been sentenced to 7 years each for two other offenses of rape. Not only that, he has been sentenced to 5 years under the IT Act. However, Jalebi Baba was not sentenced in the Arms Act case. All these sentences will run concurrently and Jalebi Baba will have to spend 14 years in jail, said Sanjay Verma, the lawyer for the victims.
What is the matter?
Haryana Police arrested Amarpuri from Tohna area of Fatehabad in 2018. Police allegedly found 120 sex videos from his mobile phone. Amarpuri Baba was the head priest of the Balaknath temple when he was arrested. Bimala Devi, then in-charge of Fatehabad Women's Police Cell, said that 120 sex videos were found from Jalebi Baba's mobile phone. Investigations revealed that women used to approach Amarpuri known as Tantriks to get rid of their problems and sorrows. Jalebi Baba was taking advantage of the helplessness of these women.
Intoxication by giving drugs in tea
Jalebi Baba used to sexually exploit women by giving them caffeinated substance in tea and making videos of the rape. Not only that, Jalebi Baba was also threatening to make the video of the rape go viral. So he used to extort money from some women. In the year 2018, Baba's Kartuto came out. A person showed the video of the woman being sexually abused to the then Tohna SHO Pradeep Kumar. A case was registered against Jalebi Baba under different sections of IPC and IT Act, the SHO said.
