- Punjab government has announced a reward for the quantity of illegal liquor

Amid the uproar over fake liquor in Bihar, the Punjab government has decided to take a strange step. The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has informed the Supreme Court that it is planning to provide 'cheap country liquor' to keep people away from 'poisonous liquor'. This alcohol will not be harmful to people's health either. Excise-Tax Department of Punjab submitted proper affidavit regarding this scheme.

Announcement of reward for quantity of illegal liquor

Senior advocate Ajit Sinha told a bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice CT Ravikumar that the police is destroying illegal breweries which have mushroomed in the state. For this the police is strengthening itself at the local level. Sinha also said that the Raj government has launched a massive awareness campaign against illegal liquor. Under this campaign people are being told how dangerous drinking illegal liquor can be. Apart from this, the state government has also announced a reward of 50 thousand to 2 lakh rupees to those who provide information about illegal liquor. The reward amount will depend on the quantity of illicit liquor.

In this regard, the AAP government said that the new excise policy plans to introduce a cheaper version of country liquor in the market to keep the society away from illegal-toxic liquor. This alcohol will not be harmful to health and will be much better than illegal alcohol. Excise department officials have also started operations in this regard. It will go to illegal liquor spots to collect data and accordingly cheap country liquor will be provided in those areas.
