Jammu: 11 people were killed while 29 people were injured when a crowded mini bus overturned in a deep valley in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on Wednesday. Among the dead are 4 women. According to the officials, the accident took place near Barari Nallah when the bus was going from Gali Maidan to Poonch. Army, police and villagers immediately started rescue operations.

According to the information, the condition of 29 injured in the accident is very serious. Out of which 6 have been airlifted to Jammu Government Medical College for special treatment. The bus fell into a 250-feet deep ravine and hit a large boulder, causing the mini bus to overturn. Students going to school were also included in this bus.

Leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar expressed grief over the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote that the loss of life due to the accident in Poonch is very sad. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones in this hour of sorrow. Along with this, he announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the National Relief Fund.

President Draupadi Murmu said that the loss of life due to a serious accident in Poonch is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families and I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
