- Proposal to change the name of Rajpath to Duty Path approved

- Kejriwal was absent from the meeting held to name Kartvyapath led by Meenakshi Lekhi.

New Delhi: Delhi's famous Rajpath will henceforth be known as Kartvyapath. New Delhi Mun. The proposal to change the name was passed by the council. The decision was approved in a meeting of the Municipal Council in Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi. Kartvyapath will be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also unveil the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose prepared at India Gate on Thursday. Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi said that we have approved the proposal to name the Rajpath as Kartvyapath. Delhi Municipal Vice President Satish Upadhyay said that this proposal was sent to us by the Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs. Henceforth, the Rajpath area from Netaji Statue to Rashtrapati Bhavan will be known as Kartvyapath.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also a member of Mun. However, Kejriwal was not present in the meeting held to discuss this proposal. In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that all the symbols of British rule should be destroyed. Earlier in 2015, the area where the Prime Minister's residence is located on Race Course Road was also renamed as Lok Kalyan Marg.
