Election Commission recommends disqualification of Chief Minister Soren as MLA

( PTI) Ranchi ,dt. 25

The Election Commission of India has recommended the disqualification of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren as an MLA, sources in the Raj Bhavan have said. It is believed that the Election Commission has recommended the disqualification of Hemant Soren as an MLA to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais for violating electoral rules. However, the Raj Bhavan has not officially confirmed this.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Jharkhand reached Ranchi this afternoon. When airport reporters asked him in this regard, he said that I am not in a position to say anything about this at present. I will be able to make any statement on this after reviewing the situation after reaching the Raj Bhavan.

He said that I was in AIIMS , Delhi for the last two days. I will be able to tell anything about this only after reaching the Raj Bhavan.

He was sought to be disqualified as an MLA for violating election rules by increasing mining leases for himself. Regarding this demand, the Election Commission has sent its recommendation to the Governor. The Governor will take the final decision keeping this recommendation in mind.

It may be mentioned that the BJP had complained to the Election Commission to disqualify Soren as an MLA for violating Section9A of the Representation of the People Act , 1951.

Soren said in a statement that BJP leaders including BJP MPs and their puppet journalists seem to have prepared the Election Commission report. Constitutional institutions and agencies are being misused by the BJP on a large scale. Which is a shame for Indian democracy.

It is worth mentioning that there are total 49 UPA MLAs in the 81-member Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. In which there are 30 MLAs from JAMM ,18 from Congress and one from RJD. BJP has 26 MLAs.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam has ruled out the possibility of the fall of the UPA government in the state. He said that even if Soren is disqualified in the Office of Profit case, the government will not fall.
