870 cellphones used in cyber crime were seized from FTP gang

Joint successful operation of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Police

New Delhi: As a result of joint efforts by police forces in four states, more than 870 new mobile phones worth Rs 86 lakh have been seized from a fraud-to-phone (FTP) gang involved in cyber crimes.

The FCORD, the cyber security wing of the Union Home Ministry, has initiated proceedings against the cyber crime network. Continued efforts have failed other important subsidiary nodes of the FTP network, an official said.

Following the follow-up of CyberSafe's Leeds and an investigation by Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana police against the FCORD, 872 new mobile phones of various companies were seized, while Rs 15.15 lakh in cash was seized from the three miscreants.

So far, more than 1,100 cellphones worth Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 25 lakh in cash have been seized from 25 miscreants of the FTP network.

Kaithal's Rajat Madan and Sudhir Narang are Hukumsingh's Sagaritos. An app called CyberF, created by FCORD in August 2019, is being used by more and more enforcement agencies, which, in spite of being a victim of cyber crime, benefits people in every way who are not even aware of it.
