IED blast in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, Assistant Commandant martyred, 9 jawans injured


Raipur, Ta. Sunday 29 November 2020

In Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, Naxals attacked a Cobra 206 battalion jawan with an IED. Assistant Commandant Nitin was killed in the attack while 9 CRPF personnel were reported Injured. All these jawans were returning from the operation at around 10 pm when they came across a Naxalite target at a place six kilometers away from Burkapal in Tadmetla area.

All the injured jawans belong to Cobra 206 Battalion. Sukma SP KL Dhruv has confirmed the attack. He said all the injured jawans were airlifted to Raipur while Assistant Commandant Nitin breathed his last on the way.

There, Bastar IG Sundarraj PA confirmed the incident and said that more information on the issue would be available only after the return of the jawans from the forest. The jawans have been injured in the blast or this is also being reported from Spike Hole.

However, on Saturday, a joint party of the army went on a search operation against the Naxals in the Tadmetla area. Meanwhile, some jawans were injured when they were trapped in a spike hole set up by the Naxalites late at night. There is information that some IEDs are vulnerable. All the young cobras belong to the 200th Battalion.

Attempts are being made to rescue the injured soldiers. A joint operation was launched from Burkapal, Temalwada and Chintagufa on the information that there were Naxals. Troops were patrolling in the forest of Tadmetla late in the evening when they came across a spike hole and an IED.

Nine soldiers were reported injured in the blast. An Air Force helicopter has been dispatched to rescue the injured.
