As per the latest report, Odisha govt. has invited requests for quotation (RFQ) to select the airlines that can operate direct flights from Bhubaneswar to international destinations. Initially, the proposals have been sought for Flight to Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok.

Jitendra Mohanty, chairman of Odisha Hotel Association tweeted “Odisha govt keen to make the Biju Patnaik International Airport vibrant with international flight connectivity.” And it seems to be true as Bhubaneswar airport is getting busier with every passing month.

In its quotation request, Govt of Odisha asked the service providers to complete the proposal-related documentation before 28th of November. Eligible airline operators can download the request for quotation which contains the details of the requirement from the tendersodisha.gov.in website. If this will work, then flying to your favorite destinations will just get easier and quicker.

“Interested scheduled air service carriers can submit their proposals to start air service operations with international flights from Bhubaneswar to international destinations like Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok with three flights a week preferably on alternate days including the weekends,” stated the RFQ document. The document has, however, made it clear that the selected airlines can operate on the remaining days of the week without any financial support from the state government. Operations under the proposal will be permitted through fixed-wing aircraft only with a passenger seating capacity of 70 or more, it added.” as reported by NIE.

The addition of new flights for international travel will further strengthen Bhubaneswar airports robust network capacity and enhance connectivity between other friendly countries. It’s believed that the addition of these new flights in future will open new tourism opportunities as well.
