Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is on his 3-day visit to steel city to attend various meetings and to understand the ongoing issues of Rourkela- “The Smart City On paper!”

Speaking to media persons, Pardhan said, “I have come here to understand the various issues pertaining to Rourkela. We will work towards making Rourkela an important industrial hub of the state and the country.” said Pradhan.

But he didn’t address the most obvious question ‘How?’

While addressing the issues of delay in the making of Brahmani bridge, Super speciality hospital and Rourkela airport, the union minister summed up all the answers in few words that everything will be over in due time. Later he said that “On request of MP Jual Oram, the govt. is now making a 6 lane Brahmani bridge instead of proposed 4 lane bridge.”

In case you forgot, let us remind you PM Modi’s promise on all these issues during his election campaign in 2014 and on his first visit to Rourkela after the massive win in general election. But Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the last election indicated a lot of things that have changed over time.

Especially, when PM Modi smartly boycotted Rourkela visit but didn’t hesitate to visit other districts in Western Odisha. The development agenda promised by the BJP before the elections didn’t go well here in the steel city.

But this time the Petroleum Minister made a concrete statement & said: “We’ll make Rourkela a world-class hub for steel production & it needs a microscopic vision.”

Now the question is, can we have a clear deadline for any of the ongoing projects and when can the people will be able to see significant development and rapid action on these projects.

Just before his visit to Rourkela, Dharmendra Pradhan sought the intervention of the Chief Minister of Odisha for accelerating the development work and to spend the smart city money for the betterment of the city.
