Driver flees as oil tanker crushes two in Ogun

A fuel Tanker crashed into a commercial bus along the Lagos-Ibadan highway on Saturday, killing two passengers.

To avoid being lynched, the truck Driver escaped from the scene.

Two other people were also reportedly injured in the crash which occurred around 6 a.m. when the tanker’s driver lost control due to brake failure.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps said the early morning crash occurred in New Makun City, Lenuwa, departing from Lagos.

A MACK tanker truck bearing the AKD 549 XL license plate and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration KSF 259 CQ were involved in the traffic accident.

TRACE Corps public relations officer Babatunde Akinbiyi revealed that amidst the traffic jam, “the rolling tanker squeezed the bus, killing two passengers instantly and injuring two others,”

He said: “According to an eyewitness, the truck failed the brakes, the driver lost control in the process and the truck crashed into a bus in front of him and squeezed the bus.”

Akinbiyi added that the bodies of the victims were dropped off at Idera Hospital, at the Sagamu interchange, where the injured are also being treated.

In complacency with the families of the deceased, the traffic regulation agency has warned drivers and owners of articulated vehicles to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and avoid speeding and dangerous driving.
