Submit Proposals For Repairing Roads, School And Anganwadi Centres In 20 Days: Dhami

Tuesday, 24 OCTOBER 2023 | PNS | NAINITAL

Proposals regarding damaged roads, Dilapidated School Buildings and Anganwadi centres should be prepared as per disaster management standards and submitted to the government within 20 days. Officials should have relevant and latest information about projects under construction. Further, they should attend meetings after doing proper homework. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this while chairing a meeting with officials here on Monday to review progress of ongoing works and the campaign to rid the roads of potholes.

The CM expressed dissatisfaction while recalling that during the meeting on July 22, officials of Kumaon region had been directed that the executing agency should submit proposals regarding roadworks to the government according to disaster standards. They had also been told to provide proposals for dilapidated school buildings and Anganwadi centres. Despite this the departmental officials have not complete the task. The CM directed them to submit the proposals within 20 days. Responsibility of the official concerned will be fixed and action will be taken if the proposals are not submitted on time, he warned. Dhami said that the task of making the roads pothole-free should be completed by November 30. It came to light in the meeting that the Public Works Department has set a target of making about 30 per cent of the total length of roads pothole-free. The CM directed the PWD that in the first stage 50 per cent of the roads should be made free of potholes and that a proposal to this effect should be submitted. Dhami told the officials that they should have relevant and latest information about their under construction projects on their fingertips. They should also do their homework before attending any official meeting, he stressed. The CM further said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent Kumaon visit, many tourists and pilgrims are making enquiries about Manaskhand and Gunji. The positive effect of the PM’s visit will be visible during the summer and the number of visitors will witness a rise. He directed the Kumaon commissioner and Pithoragarh district magistrate to prepare a proposal for accommodation and food for visitors. He also directed the commissioner to regularly monitor the works underway in the Kumaon region so that the desired quality is maintained and works are finished on time.

Referring to the drugs-free mission, he said that the supply chain should be broken. The Police, Health department, Yuvak Mangal Dal, Mahila Mangal Dal and other organisations should raise public awareness on the issue.
