Home Minister To Inaugurate AIPSC In Dehradun Today

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the 49th All India Police Science Congress (AIPSC) at Dehradun’s Forest Research Institute (FRI) on Saturday. The Uttarakhand police will organise this event under the aegis of the Central government’s agency Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) which will be joined by police officials from all States besides experts from different spheres.

The director general of police Ashok Kumar informed the media on Friday that the event will be inaugurated on Saturday at the FRI convocation hall by the Union Home minister and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as special guest of honour. The main theme of this two-day AIPSC will be policing in Amrit Kaal. Under this theme, experts from across the country will mainly discuss the five selected themes which are Policing in the 5G Era, Internal Security and Social Media Challenges, Narcotics: A Game Changing Approach, Coordination between Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Community Policing. He said that there will be a total of nine sessions including main sessions, Breakout Sessions and presentations.

The AIPSC has received good response from across the country. So far, 106 participants including police officials, technical experts and forensic experts among others have submitted papers on selected themes. A special committee of BPRD has been assessing these papers and the selected ones will be presented in the event. The committee has also selected 19 subject experts as session speakers.

Kumar further said that the police will also organise two breakout sessions in compliance with the instructions given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the DGPs and IGs Conference 2022. He said that two breakout sessions on the effectiveness of the Village Police System and Police Complaint Authority in compliance with the instructions of Section 237 of the Parliamentary Standing Committee will also be conducted. The outcomes of each session will be sent to the Home Ministry for making policy. He said that the Uttarakhand governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony. A technical exhibition will also be held during the event in which the latest equipment for better policing will be displayed. The general public will be allowed to see the exhibition only on Sunday, he added.
