A conman masquerading as a doctor in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh was apprehended by authorities on Tuesday. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Aiims Rishikesh, Harish Thapliyal informed that the Sewa Veers (service volunteers) of the hospital noticed that a man donning the uniform of a doctor was standing near the department of radiology. They found his activities suspicious and informed about him to the hospital administration. Thapliyal said that this man had placed a nameplate of Dr Sachin Kumar on his uniform and claimed that he is a senior resident in the neurology department of the hospital. On being questioned the person tried to mislead but later told that he had worked as a hospital attendant in the DRDO hospital managed by the AIIMS Rishikesh during the pandemic of Covid 19. The accused is class X pass. Thapliyal said that the phone record of Sachin Kumar showed details of 70 to 80 registrations of patients done in the hospital. His phone has some dubious money transactions also. It is believed that Kumar used to dupe the patients and their relatives by posing as a doctor. The PRO of AIIMS Rishikesh said that the issue has been brought to the notice of the police. The accused has been apprehended and the police have started an investigation in the case, he said.
