The Bageshwar district magistrate Anuradha Pal along with the Kumaon zone inspector general of Police Nilesh Anand Bharne and superintendent of police Akshay Konde held a briefing of all police officials and security officers deployed for election duty on September 5 in the district. Regarding the safe conduct of Assembly by-elections, the officials talked about necessary guidelines which must be followed by each of the officials and personnel appointed on election duty. The DM said that voters must not be allowed to carry any mobile phone or camera among other items inside the polling booth. Only voters and persons authorised by the administration should be allowed entry within 100 metre radius of the polling area. She said that no person can vote after the polling time ends. Bharne asked the police and security officials to not allow entry to any unauthorised person in any circumstances. He asked them to timely inform the senior officials in view of the possibility of any kind of law and order related issues during their duty. The SP asked officials to stay vigilant and disciplined while carrying out their duties on the election day and take necessary action as per the guidelines if they observe any violations in and around the polling station. The officials and personnel from the police, Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) besides officials deployed on election duty were present in the meeting.
