Mahara claims BJP MLA involved in grabbing of land of Akhadas in Haridwar

Launching a diatribe on the BJP government of Uttarakhand, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has claimed that though BJP is consistently using the term ‘land Jihad’ for petty political gains, the fact is that its leaders are actually involved in land Jihad by Grabbing lands in different parts of the State.

The Pcc President said that saints of Bada Udasin Akhada in Haridwar have accused local MLA and senior leader of BJP, Madan Kaushik of grabbing land of  the Akhada.  He said that the saints have claimed that hundreds of bighas of land is being illegally occupied by Kaushik and his relatives. The saints have also written a letter to the Prime Minister and Home minister and demanded an investigation in the case. The PCC president demanded that an inquiry monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court should be ordered in the Haridwar land grab case.

Continuing his attack on the BJP government, Mahara said that a senior councillor of BJP Ajay Singhal is fighting a protracted battle to free a piece of government land from an influential educational society. He said that the consistent efforts of Singhal resulted in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun conceding  that 0.3196 hectare of land is illegally occupied by the education society. The PCC president said that despite the efforts of Singhal who is senior councillor of ruling party eviction action was done only on 0.030 hectare of land.

 He added that another precious piece of land near Dalanwala police station is being illegally occupied by an outsider but instead of taking action on him, the MCD has collected tax from the occupant which means that it has authenticated illegal occupation of the land. 

He said that the mayor of the Dehradun who is already under cloud for manyfold increase in his wealth should be held answerable for actions of those responsible for grabbing land of the corporation. Mahara said that these instances of grabbing of government land are a major land jihad by the BJP leaders.
