The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the donor who got Gold plating done in Kedarnath temple was prepared to donate 500 kilogrammes of gold in 2013 when the Congress was in office in Uttarakhand. However, the donor did not donate the gold considering the intentions of the then government. The Congress leaders were waiting since then and as soon as the gold donation was announced and initially started putting forth religious aspects to prevent the gold plating. Later, the Congress attempted to spread baseless falsehood which was just an attempt to dent the image of Uttarakhand, alleged the BJP.

The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan strongly condemned the statements being made by the opposition leaders regarding the gold plating in Kedarnath temple. He said that the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee has already clarified that 23 kilogrammes of gold has been donated by a devotee but the Congress IT cell is stating the quantity to be 230 kilogrammes. This only exhibits the Congress’ negative politics.
