BJP, Frontal Organisations Disturbing Communal Harmony In U’khand: Congress

Wednesday, 14 June 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Expressing their concern at recent events in Purola in Uttarkashi and other areas of Uttarakhand, the leaders of the State Congress have blamed the BJP and its frontal organisations for disturbing the communal harmony in the State. Senior Congress leaders expressed this concern during an online meeting of the political affairs committee (PAC) of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC). The meeting was attended by the Congress State in-charge Devendra Yadav, PCC president Karan Mahara, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal, national secretary Qazi Nizamuddin and others.

The Congress leaders were of the view that by raising issues such as love Jihad and land Jihad the BJP is flaring the religious sentiments of the people and all this is being done with an eye on the Lok Sabha elections. They said that the manner in which an attempt is being made to disturb the communal harmony in the State is not good in the interests of the State. The Congress leaders claimed that the Congress party would not allow the communal situation to deteriorate in the State.

The PAC of the PCC discussed the strategy of the upcoming by-election in the Bageshwar. It also held deliberation on the issues which the party would raise in the by-election to corner the State government.

In the meeting the leaders condemned the recent statements of former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and union minister of state Ajay Bhatt in which they referred to the murderer of MK Gandhi as a patriot. The Congress leaders said that such statements and insults of freedom fighters would not be tolerated and the party would hit the streets against this type of mentality.

The PAC also deliberated on Ankita Bhandari murder case, recruitment scams, Joshimath issue, Agniveer scheme and others issues in its meeting.

The meeting was also attended by former national secretary Prakash Joshi, former minister Navprabhat, MLA Sumit Hridayesh, Vaibhav Walia, Ishita Seda, president of Youth Congress Sumittar Bhullar, Women wing president Jyoti Rautela, Hema Purohit, NSUI president Vikas Negi, vice president of State unit Mathura Dutt Joshi and social media advisor Amarjeet Singh.
