The Love Jihad unrest that started in Purola in Uttarkashi district with the alleged abduction of a minor girl by two youths of a minority community is spreading across the State fast. In the latest Dehradun news, a large number of people belonging to the militant Hindu outfits assembled at Jolly Grant Himalayan Chowk and, accusing a youth of indulging in love jihad practice, they thrashed him. As per the allegation, the youth had been blackmailing a girl, who is a medical student, after clicking her obscene photos secretly. Later, the agitators handed the accused youth over to the police. Meanwhile, people of two different communities gathered at the Doiwala police station premises. As things seemed to be spiraling out of control with both the groups bent on fighting one another, police intervened and somehow pacified the warring groups. The militant Hindu group members registered a complaint at the police station. The inspector in-charge of the police station Rajesh Shah said that investigation would be held on the basis of the complaint. The accused is said to be from Missar.
