The Uttarakhand High Court has quashed a petition challenging the orders of the registrar regarding termination of employees on more than approved group D posts in the Dehradun District Cooperative Bank. Hearing the matter, the single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari found the order of the cooperatives registrar to be correct and dismissed the petition.

Outsourced employee Reena Uniyal and seven others had filed the petition in the High Court stating that appointments were made to 57 group D posts in the Dehradun District Cooperative bank. The petitioners stated that the cooperatives secretary had ordered a probe into allegations of irregularities in the appointments but the investigation report has not come out yet. In the meanwhile, the cooperatives registrar issued an order terminating the service of 39 outsourced workers. When this issue was taken up in the board meeting, the board members decided in favour of the workers but they were still being removed from their jobs. The petitioners further stated that there are 76 approved posts in the said bank but 115 persons are employed in it. They stated that it has been stated in the registrar’s order that the 39 outsourced employees are being removed from work as the bank does not have the funds to pay their salaries.
